Handpan artisan maker
The first time I heard the sound of a handpan was on a street in Amsterdam in the mid-2000s. That sound struck me deeply, perhaps because I come from a family of blacksmiths and metal has always been part of my life, although I had never imagined it could resonate with such warmth. That initial fascination marked the beginning of a long journey, one that led me from trying to build my own instrument to leaving my scientific career in order to dedicate myself fully to this craft.
Philosophy
At Tiznajo Instruments, we make handpans that not only stand out for their quality but also connect deeply with those who play them. My way of working combines my family’s blacksmithing tradition with my scientific background, bringing together the artisanal care of metal with a precise and methodical approach.
Work process
The creation of a handpan at Tiznajo Instruments begins with the meticulous drawing of the note positions, which vary with each model. The instrument is then shaped using molds, presses, and hammers, both manual and pneumatic. Afterwards, I alternate between tempering phases and hand tuning to ensure that the instrument maintains its tonal stability over time. Many of the tools I use are ones I have built myself, which allows me to adapt and continuously refine each stage of the process.

Atelier
The Tiznajo Instruments atelier is a space filled with family tradition. Originally a forge dedicated to artisanal blacksmithing, the workshop has evolved into the place where our handpans are born. It is an environment where I feel at home, surrounded by the tools and materials I grew up with. Beyond that, the atelier is also a meeting point where musicians and clients can discover the process, take part in workshops, and immerse themselves in the world of the handpan, sharing experiences and learning along the way.
Team
Tiznajo Instruments began as a personal project, but over time it has grown thanks to the collaborations that have enriched and inspired it. Today, the team is made up of people who bring their talent and dedication to the work.

Adrián
I’m Adrián, the founder of Tiznajo Instruments. My curiosity for the sound of the handpan led me to research how to build it and to start this project. Today I not only dedicate myself to making the instruments, but also to experimenting with shapes, materials, and tools that allow me to innovate and keep improving the process.

Lukas
Alongside me, Lukas Nadenau is a handpan musician whose connection with the instrument goes beyond performance. His sensitivity to sound and musical balance brings great value to the development of new designs at Tiznajo Instruments. What began as a casual encounter when he ordered his first handpan from me soon turned into a friendship and a creative collaboration. Lukas often returns to the workshop to test prototypes, share his perspective as a player, and help refine each new instrument. He is also an active artist who performs concerts across Europe and teaches in workshops, inspiring others to connect more deeply with the handpan.
